The short version. Two small items of storage keep the site working (your light/dark preference and your cookie choice). Analytics loads only if you opt in. There is no advertising, no profiling, and no selling of data.

1 · What cookies are

Cookies — and similar technologies such as browser local storage — are small files a site stores on your device. They can remember a preference, keep you signed in, or count visits. Some are essential; most are not.

2 · Cookies we use

Strictly necessary — always on

  • fsl-theme — remembers whether you chose the light or dark version of the site. Stored in your browser's local storage. Persists until you clear it.
  • fsl-consent — records your cookie choice so we don't ask again on every page. Stored in local storage for 12 months.

These are essential to provide a service you have requested, so they do not require consent. They contain no personal identifiers and are never used for tracking.

Analytics — only with your consent

  • Website analytics — helps us understand which articles and pages are actually useful, so we write more of what helps. Typically retained for up to 14 months. IP addresses are anonymised where the provider supports it.

These cookies are not set unless you accept them. If you decline, the analytics script is never loaded — nothing about your visit is measured.

What we do not use

No advertising or retargeting pixels. No social media tracking cookies. No cross-site profiling. No selling or sharing of personal information.

3 · Third-party services

Some pages load resources from third parties — for example web fonts, or an embedded checkout when you buy a product. These providers may receive technical information such as your IP address as a necessary part of delivering that content. Where we add a payment provider or newsletter form, they operate under their own privacy terms, and we list them in our Privacy Policy.

4 · Changing your mind

You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie preferences" link in the footer of any page. You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser settings, or block them entirely — the site will still work, though it will forget your theme preference.

We ask again after 12 months, so consent stays current rather than assumed.

5 · Your rights

Consent is entirely yours: freely given, specific, and as easy to withdraw as it is to give. Declining changes nothing about the content you can read.
