What is Foresight Specbook?
A Windows app that holds the paperwork of an interior design project. Seventeen connected documents: the welcome pack, the onboarding questionnaire, the room survey, the concept board, the proposal, the programme, the budget, the FF&E and finishes schedules, purchase orders, the order tracker, delivery notes, invoices, change orders, meeting notes, the project tracker and the punch list. Beside them sit a supplier directory, a product library, and a viewer for your drawings and renderings.
It is not a Canva file or an InDesign document, and that is the thing worth understanding before you spend anything. It is closer to a small piece of software than to a template pack.
What do I need to run it?
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. Nothing else — no Canva, InDesign, Word or subscription.
Mac and iPad are not supported. If you work on a Mac, tell us: it moves the date.
Can I try it first?
Yes. Download the free trial and every feature works for 7 days, with no card. The trial starts the first time the app opens while connected to the internet. When you buy, you paste your licence key into the same copy: nothing is reinstalled and nothing you made in the trial is lost.
Does it work offline?
Yes. It needs the internet once, to start the trial or activate a key, and about once a month after that to check the licence. Everything else — typing, saving, printing, the typefaces — works with no connection.
Where is my work kept?
On your own computer, as ordinary files: one folder per project, with organised folders for drawings, renderings, specifications, quotes and correspondence beside it. The project saves itself a few seconds after you stop typing and keeps backups of its last saves. Put the folder in OneDrive, Dropbox or Google Drive to back it up or share it across a studio.
Why one project instead of separate documents?
Because the client’s name should be typed once. Your studio details come from Preferences and the client from the project, and every document reads from them. Nothing can disagree with anything else, which is the failure that costs you an afternoon three weeks into a job.
The documents also add themselves up. Quantities times unit prices, room subtotals, budget rollups, tax, deposits, the change order that alters the contract sum.
Can I send a document to a client?
Yes. Export a print-ready PDF of any document. On the onboarding questionnaire and the room survey, Client copy writes a separate file with your questions locked and only the answers fillable, which your client opens in any web browser. Your costs and markup are removed from it rather than hidden in it.
Can I change the look?
All of it. Seven house styles, each a different piece of design rather than the same layout in different colours. Then your logo, your colours and your typefaces on top, set once in Preferences and applied to every document. Every typeface is built into the app, so it looks the same offline.
Which paper sizes?
A4 and A3, or Letter, Legal and Tabloid. Wide schedules read better on A3 or Tabloid; most documents belong on A4 or Letter.
How many computers?
Foresight Specbook is licensed for 2 computers. Foresight Specbook Studio covers 5. To move a licence, open Preferences › Licence › Deactivate on the old computer, then activate on the new one.
What happens after I buy?
The download and your licence key arrive straight away, on the page after payment and by email. Open the download, run the installer, and paste the key into Edit › Preferences › Licence. The guide, with a fully worked example project, comes with it and is also inside the app.
Windows may show “Windows protected your PC” the first time, because the app is new. Click More info, then Run anyway.
Can I get a refund?
Because you can try every feature free for 7 days first, licences are not refunded once a key has been issued. The exceptions: a duplicate purchase, or an app that will not install or run on a supported Windows computer, which we will fix or refund. The full position is in the terms.
Do I get updates?
Yes. Every update to version 1 is free and installs from inside the app. An update never changes a project you have already made.
Can I use it for client work?
That is what it is for. The licence covers your own studio and your own client projects, including the documents you deliver to clients. You may not resell or share the app or your licence key. Full wording in the terms.
And the website templates?
Seven house styles, nine pages each, each with a live demo on the shop. $250, paid once. Each copy is built with your studio name in place and sent within one working day.
