Let there be light.
Product and lifestyle visualisation for New Zealand lighting brand Glowbe — pendant fittings rendered across their finish range and staged in real interiors, showing both the fixture and the light it throws.
The finish range
The same fitting, the same room, the same exposure — only the finish changes. Each one reflects and emits differently, which is exactly what a customer is trying to judge.

The brief
Glowbe needed imagery that showed their fittings in real rooms rather than isolated on white — the product doing its job, in a home, throwing light the way it will once it is installed. [Add the range, launch or campaign this supported.]
Lighting is the hardest product category to photograph, for a reason that sounds obvious once said: the product is the light source. Expose for the glowing fitting and the room goes black; expose for the room and the fitting blows out into a white blob. Photographers get around it by bracketing and compositing — which is slow, expensive, and has to be repeated for every finish and every setting.
Our approach
We built the fittings to specification and then built rooms around them, so the light in each scene is genuinely emitted by the product — falling off across a wall at the correct rate, pooling on a surface below, and picking up the materials nearby. That relationship between the fixture and the room is the whole point of a lighting image, and it is the thing a composite tends to lose.
Because it is rendered rather than shot, the exposure problem disappears: we can hold detail in the filament and the glass while the room stays correctly lit, in one frame. Each finish was authored to behave properly — brass, blackened metal and chrome each reflect their own emitted light differently, so the same fitting reads distinctly across the range without the scene being rebuilt. [Add materials, revision rounds and delivery formats.]
The lifestyle scenes
Residential interiors built specifically to show the fittings in use, by day and after dark.
The result
A complete set of product and lifestyle imagery covering the finish range, delivered from a single build. [Add what was delivered and the outcome.]
For a lighting brand the economics are compelling: no location, no crew, no bracketed exposures to composite, and no need for a finish to physically exist before it can be shown. A new colourway or a new room becomes a re-render rather than another shoot.
