The brief
After the hospitality work, Kristal Oconnell wanted to open a different market: the corporate and creative workspace. The fixture was the No Drama Obama — sleek, minimalist, matte black — and the question a specifier would ask about it is not whether it looks good. It is whether it works.
Office lighting is judged against criteria hospitality lighting never faces. Glare on a monitor is a health complaint, not an aesthetic one. So the brief was to show the pendant doing two different jobs in one coherent space: precise task lighting over communal workstation benches, and warmer ambient light over collaborative meeting hubs.
Our approach
We built a single modern workspace containing both zones, so the fixture could be seen switching roles without switching rooms. Linear rows of pendants run above Scandinavian oak tables and iMac workstations; the same fixture hangs lower and warmer over the meeting hub.
The lighting was rendered to be assessed, not just admired. Task areas show the actual throw across desk surfaces — how the light falls, where shadows land, and whether a screen sits in glare. Over the meeting tables the colour temperature warms, because a conversation is not a spreadsheet.
The matte black finish was set against natural wood shelving, concrete wall texture and biophilic moss installations — the material language most current workplace schemes are built from. A specifier can see immediately whether it will sit in their scheme.
The result
A workspace render package covering the main floor view, a task-lighting detail verifying visual comfort, and the biophilic interaction shot.
The suite opened a B2B channel that product photography could not. It demonstrates the luminaire meeting modern workplace lighting needs — task accuracy and ambient comfort — and shows the matte black finish sitting naturally alongside the moss walls and light timber that dominate current office design.
