These three get compared as equivalents. They are not. Two are offline renderers and one is a real-time application, which makes most published comparisons quietly incoherent.

The short answer
They are not equivalents: V-Ray and Corona are offline renderers, Lumion is a real-time application, which makes most published comparisons incoherent. V-Ray is the broadest — many hosts, highest ceiling, and the only one of the three that runs on a Mac. Corona wins for interiors specifically, because its out-of-the-box lighting behaviour suits bounced and mixed light, but it lives in 3ds Max and Cinema 4D. Lumion is fastest to a decent image and strongest on exterior and landscape context, with the least control.
V-Ray
The industry standard, and the broadest. It plugs into SketchUp, Rhino, 3ds Max, Revit and more, and it runs natively on Mac — which alone rules the other two out for a lot of studios.
The ceiling is as high as any renderer available. So is the amount you can misconfigure. V-Ray rewards knowing what you are doing and punishes guessing, which is why the same engine produces both the best and the worst images in most portfolios.
Corona
Corona's reputation among interior artists is real and it comes down to defaults. Its out-of-the-box behaviour suits interior lighting — bounced light, warm sources, mixed daylight and artificial — unusually well, so you spend less time fighting to a plausible image.
For interiors specifically, many artists reach a good result faster in Corona than in V-Ray. The catch for Mac studios is fatal: Corona runs through 3ds Max, and 3ds Max is Windows only.
Lumion, and why it does not belong here
Lumion is a real-time application built around exteriors, landscape and context. Enormous vegetation libraries, weather, seasons, populated scenes. For a building in its setting it is excellent and very fast.
For a bathroom, it is the wrong tool. Not incapable — wrong. The engine's strengths are all outside the window.
If you want real-time for interiors, the comparison you actually want is Enscape against Twinmotion, not this one.
What each one asks of your computer
The engine you choose is also a hardware decision, and the three ask for completely different machines. Buying the wrong one first is how studios end up with an expensive graphics card that their renderer never touches.

Corona’s position surprises people most often, because its interior results are the reason many studios chose it and they are produced entirely on the processor. The wider explanation is in GPU vs CPU rendering — but the short version is that card memory, not card speed, is what stops a render, and Corona sidesteps that question altogether.
Choosing
- On a Mac — V-Ray. The decision is made.
- Windows, interiors, want results fast — Corona.
- Windows, mixed interior and exterior, maximum control — V-Ray.
- Mostly exteriors and context — Lumion, and it is the right tool.
The caveat that matters more than the choice
The engine is not what makes a render good. Lighting decisions, material accuracy, camera height and styling account for almost all of the difference between a convincing image and an obviously computed one.
